HEALTH & SAFETY

Water
The water on board is filtered to one micron from the tanks to the tap and is perfectly safe for drinking. However, we understand that our guests may be wary so we will provide bottled water to drink as well.

Malaria
Malaria can be an issue in PNG, so please talk to your doctor about taking anti-malarial medication. A good preventative measure whilst in PNG is to wear insect repellent and/or a long-sleeved top and trousers especially when walking around the islands. Since the vessel is air conditioned, and we will anchor a reasonable distance from the land the risk is minimized whilst on board.

Read more about the recommended vaccinations for travel to PNG on the attached document or go to www.traveldoctor.com.au

Tropical infections
In the tropics skin infections from coral cuts or scraps can take much longer to heal.
We advise that you prepare for this by talking to your Doctor about a suitable antibiotic. The most important thing is to keep any cuts clean & protected especially when outside.

The sun
The tropical sun can be intense, even on a cloudy day.
So prepare to cover up & wear plenty of sun protection (including for your eyes) especially when in the water.
Also, always remember to drink plenty of water.

First Aid
A small medical kit with antibiotic cream & tablets, ear and eye drops, plasters, and antihistamine tablets is very useful. Please ensure that you bring any personal medication with you that you may need.

We have a fully equipped first aid kit onboard (both your hosts are Senior First Aiders plus our crews are first aid trained). We will have phone contact with a local doctor, and if required a direct steam back to the local hospital.

MedEvac insurance is mandatory for all passengers.
