OTHER ACTIVITIES
There is plenty to do for the smaller surf days or for the non-surfers onboard.
Kayaks & Stand-up Paddle board
Take advantage of our two sit on top kayaks for exploring the sheltered waters. Or have a go at the stand-up paddle board on the smaller days of surf.
Snorkeling
Feel free to use our snorkeling sets to explore the reefy shallows and appreciate the vibrant colours and healthiness of a diverse range of coral, tropical fish, crustaceans and anemones. Even at these shallow depths realise New Irelands’ place in WWII as you snorkel the Japanese ships at Three Island Harbour.
Environment & culture
Visit the islands, meet the locals and see where they live, worship and learn. Be guided around their place and appreciate the tropical vegetation & dramatic landscape. Have a refreshing swim in the natural spring water holes and enjoy a trip up the river to delve into the real way of PNG island life. Even try your hand with a paddle in a traditional canoe.
Accept invitations to traditional ceremonies, listen to a local ‘singsing’ or watch a cultural dance display – the passion in this performance will leave you speechless. For all these activities we will organize payment for on your behalf, it’s up to you if you wish to donate anything more.
A note on gifts
Contact us before the charter if you feel you have room in your baggage for some extras for the locals.
And we will let you know what is most needed. Books and clothes especially for children are always popular, as well as items for the local schools such as pens & pencils.
